India Secures First-Ever Canoe Gold in Asian Para Games

Prachi Yadav scripted history as she clinched the first-ever para canoe gold for India at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou on Tuesday. Her remarkable performance spearheaded India’s impressive medal collection for the second consecutive day.

Team India added a remarkable 18 medals to their tally on Tuesday, which included an impressive four golds. This brought India’s total medal count to an impressive 35 in just the first two days of the competition, following their stellar performance on Monday when they secured 17 medals, including six golds.

Despite this strong showing, India currently occupies the fourth position in the overall medal standings. The top three spots are currently held by China with a staggering 155 medals, Iran with 44 medals, and Uzbekistan with 38 medals.

Prachi Yadav, who had secured a silver medal in the canoe VL2 category on Monday, continued her winning streak by claiming her second medal at the Games. This time, she struck gold in the KL2 event, showcasing her remarkable talent and determination.

Prachi Yadav, a 28-year-old athlete who overcame the challenge of being paralyzed below the waist, clocked a remarkable time of 54.962 seconds to cover the 500m distance, securing gold in the KL2 event. This event is specifically designed for athletes who use their arm strength and possess partial trunk and leg function. Prachi’s incredible achievement has brought immense pride to her hometown of Gwalior and the entire nation.
