India Gears Up with a 446-Member Contingent for the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou

India is all set to make its mark at the upcoming fourth Asian Para Games, scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, China, from October 22 to 28. The nation is poised to be represented by a formidable 446-member contingent, including 303 athletes, in a wide range of sporting disciplines. This remarkable turnout reflects India’s commitment to the world of para-sports.

The Indian Sports Ministry has given the green light for a total of 303 sportspersons to participate in the Asian Para Games, with 191 male and 112 female athletes competing across 17 different sporting disciplines. Additionally, the ministry has cleared 143 coaches, escorts, officials, and support staff to accompany the athletes, ensuring comprehensive support.

Of the total number of athletes representing India, a significant portion, 123 to be exact, will be competing in athletics events. This large and diverse contingent is a testament to India’s growing presence and competitiveness in para-sports.

This year’s participation marks a significant increase compared to the previous edition of the games in Jakarta, where India was represented by 190 athletes in 13 sporting events. India’s remarkable performance in Jakarta saw the contingent return with an impressive tally of 72 medals, including 15 gold medals.
