India Couture Fashion Week 2023: Top Couturiers Showcase Exclusive Collections on the Ramp
India Couture Week’s 16th edition, co-organized by FDCI and Hyundai Motor India, wowed audiences at Taj Hotel Delhi. Leading couturiers like Falguni Shane Peacock, Ritu Kumar, Tarun Tahiliani, and others showcased their stunning collections, creating a memorable event.
After the resounding success of Paris Fashion Week, India has launched its 16th edition of India Couture Week. The event, jointly organized by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and Hyundai Motor India, took place from 25th July to 2nd August at the prestigious Taj Hotel Delhi. Renowned couturiers from the country presented their exquisite collections, making it a truly unforgettable affair.
“FDCI brings its magnificent show in the 16th edition of the Hyundai India Couture Week, which brings to the fore age-old craftsmanship sharpened to suit contemporary tastes,” said the FDCI Chairman Sunil Sethi in an exclusive interview.
The red runway dazzled with the stunning creations of fashion luminaries like Falguni Shane Peacock, Ritu Kumar, Tarun Tahiliani, Gaurav Gupta, JJ Valaya, Kunal Rawal, Rahul Mishra, Anamika Khanna, Rimzim Dadu, Suneet Varma, and Varun Bahl, who showcased their breathtaking collections on the red carpet, leaving the audience in awe.
Tracing back to 2008, when FDCI chairperson Sunil Sethi was elected as president and felt the need for a unified platform that would showcase Indian artisanship and design sensibilities, giving the platform the designers deserve. The inaugural event was graced with the presence of 11 couturiers, including Anamika Khanna, Ashish Soni, JJ Valaya, Manav Gangwani, Manish Malhotra, Pallavi Jaikishan, Ritu Kumar, Rohit Bal, Suneet Varma, Tarun Tahiliani, and Varun Bahl in association with HDIL (Indian real estate development company).
This year’s Fashion Week commenced with the grand showcase of Falguni Shane Peacock’s “Renaissance Reverie,” a mesmerizing fusion of Indian culture, techniques, and craftsmanship, paying tribute to the artistry of colors. The showstopper for the collection was the enchanting Kiara Advani, who graced the ramp in a flamingo pink two-piece set encrusted with crystals and beaded tassels, captivating everyone’s attention.
Rahul Mishra concluded the event on a high note on August 3rd with his stellar collection titled “We the People,” paying homage to his artisans. The latest bridal collection centered around intricate embroidery inspired by nature. The elegant showstopper, Shraddha Kapoor, gracefully adorned the shimmering lehenga with delicate floral embellishments in pastel pink, yellow, and white, perfectly complemented by a blouse featuring a deep neckline.
The event witnessed a star-studded red carpet, with Bollywood celebrities like Vaani Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Disha Patani, Ananya Pandey, Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Athiya Shetty, and Aditi Rao Hydari gracing the occasion and adding to the glitz and glamour.
