In a significant diplomatic development, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh led discussions with their US counterparts, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, in the fifth edition of the India-US ‘2+2’ ministerial dialogue. The talks, held in Delhi, focused on advancing the strategic cooperation between the two nations and building upon the futuristic roadmap outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joseph Biden.

A spectrum of critical issues was on the table, including strategic, defence, and technology collaborations. The ministers reviewed the progress made in cross-cutting aspects of defence and security cooperation, emphasizing the need to enhance ties in the technology value chain and people-to-people connections.

The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that the dialogue provided an opportunity to chart the course for the India-US partnership and align priorities. Discussions also delved into contemporary regional issues and explored avenues for collaboration in multilateral platforms, with a specific mention of the Quad framework.

As both nations navigate an evolving geopolitical landscape, the ‘2+2’ dialogue reaffirms their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and addressing shared challenges on the global stage.
