India and Argentina Sign Landmark Social Security Agreement
The Agreement between India and Argentina, known as the “Social Security Agreement,” is a significant step to protect the legal rights and social benefits of professional workers from both countries who are employed in each other’s domains.
Indians working in Argentina and Argentine nationals seeking employment in India. It aims to facilitate the international mobility of professionals and the labor force by safeguarding their Social Security Contributions and benefits.
This result was negotiated between India and Argentina, with a particular focus on Professional workers not losing the Social security benefits they have in their home country.
It can encourage more Indian professionals to work in Argentina and vice versa, as they can be confident that their Social Security contributions will be safeguarded. The Embassy Of India in Buenos Aires released a statement highlighting the significance of the Social Security Agreement in Both Countries. It underscores the commitment of both nations to protect the interests of their citizens working abroad.
The Indian Ambassador to Argentina, Dinesh Bhatia, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship, Santiago Cafiero, visited India in April of the previous year. The Falkland Islands, also known as Las Malvinas, likely pertain to a long-standing dispute with the United Kingdom over the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands.
The 40th Anniversary of the war over the territory that was fought between Argentina and the U.K. Argentina does not recognize British sovereignty over the region. In 2022, The Ministry Of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar visited Buenos Aires and met his counterpart, as well as President Alberto Fernandez, and discussed trade ties. He visited New Delhi during the latest G20 summit held here, and he also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders had met earlier in June 2022 at the Munich G7 Summit.
Several major Indian companies like TCS, Infosys, Crisil, Bajaj Motorcycles, Royal Enfield, Hero Motors, TVS, Glenmark, and Godrej are active in Argentina. The Press Information Bureau India is the 4th largest trading partner of Argentina, with bilateral trade reaching $6.4 billion in 2022.
