Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has called for expedited court hearings in his cases, accusing Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa of bias against his party. Speaking from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, Khan expressed frustration over what he described as unjustified delays in the court decisions.

In a message reported by The Express Tribune, Khan stated, “I urge all judges presiding over my cases to expedite the hearings and refrain from unjustified delays.” He criticised the delays in court decisions as “unjust” and reiterated that all cases against him were false and baseless.

Referring to CJP Isa’s statement, Khan accused the judiciary of bias, saying, “He stated that there is no pressure on him, but pressure comes to those who refuse to indulge in wrongdoing. You are behaving like [the government’s] B-team against PTI.”

Khan highlighted several issues, including the denial of a level playing field and violations of fundamental human rights during the May 9 incidents, on which PTI’s petition has been pending since May 25, 2023, without a hearing till today. He also mentioned that PTI’s petitions against rigging during the general elections have not been heard yet, and the issue of women’s reserved seats remains pending.

The PTI founder criticised the judiciary, stating that the decisions coerced through threats were dismantling Pakistan’s judicial system. He called on Supreme Court judges to reject wrong decisions and emphasised that dialogue would only happen when the stolen mandate is returned and PTI’s imprisoned workers are released.

Meanwhile, former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry made headlines by suggesting that Imran Khan could become Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif if he struck a deal with the establishment. Chaudhry’s remarks came amid reports of talks between PTI and the establishment, with senior PTI leader Shehryar Afridi indicating a dialogue with the chief of army staff (COAS) and the director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI) instead of “rejected people” who reached parliament through Form 47.

Chaudhry, while speaking outside the Lahore High Court (LHC), predicted that Khan would not strike a deal with the establishment, saying, “If he strikes a deal, he will become Shehbaz Sharif,” highlighting the complexities of Pakistan’s political landscape.
