A couple in Hyderabad—a 44-year-old man and his 35-year-old wife—died by suicide after allegedly killing their two children due to financial struggles and health issues, police reported on Tuesday. The tragic incident occurred on Monday night at their home in Ravindranagar Colony, Habsiguda.
According to Osmania University police station inspector N. Rajender, the couple first strangled their children before taking their own lives. Their bodies were found in separate rooms, while their children were discovered dead on the bed. Police responded to a call from neighbors around 9:30 p.m. and launched an investigation.
A suicide note, purportedly written by the man, was recovered from the scene, revealing his financial difficulties and ongoing health problems. He had been unemployed for six months after previously working as a lecturer at a private college. The family’s financial distress may have contributed to the tragedy, police said.
In the note, written in Telugu, the man expressed despair over his failing career and declining health, mentioning struggles with diabetes, nerve issues, and kidney disease. “No one is responsible for my death. I had no other option but to end my life. Please forgive me,” he wrote.
The bodies have been sent to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem examination, and police have registered a case of suspicious deaths as investigations continue.
