Himanshi Khurana and Asim Riaz’s Breakup Sparks Debate on Religion and Secularism

Fans were left heartbroken when Big Boss-famed Himanshi Khurana revealed on her social media about her breakup with Asim Riaz. They were together for almost 4 years and were one of the beloved couples from Bigg Boss 13. Their fans hailed them as a fairy tale couple and lovingly called them the name ‘Asimanshi.’
Asim and Himanshi’s love story began on Bigg Boss Season 13, where they met as contestants. The couple had expressed their love on national television. Later, she even broke up her 9-year-long relationship to be with Asim. The couple had even appeared together in music videos of songs like ‘Kalla Sohna Nai,’ ‘Khyaal Rakhya Kar,’ ‘Afsos Karoge,’ and ‘Dil Ko Maine Di Kasam.’
For quite some time, rumors and speculations were going around about their possible separation. This was later proved to be true when, on Wednesday, Himanshi revealed on her social media handle, “Yes, me and Asim are not together anymore.” She added, “With due respect to our respective religions, we are sacrificing our love for our different religious beliefs. We have nothing against each other. We request that you respect our privacy.” After this, she was highly criticized by fans for parting ways with Asim due to her religious beliefs.
However, it is to be noted that in her initial post via Instagram story, she didn’t even reveal the reason behind their breakup. In that, she wrote, “When we tried But we could not find a solution for our life. You still love each other but luck is not supporting for happily ever after. No hate, only love. That’s called a mature decision.”
Seeing the hate comments after she announced her breakup, she shared a screenshot of her personal chats with Asim to clarify everything. The chats revealed that Asim had given her consent to reveal that their religious differences were the reason for their mutual separation. She then wrote a post on X: “This is my last & final statement to clarify that I’m a secular person so I am not disrespecting any religion. I just chose mine.” After this post, she quit social media.
Initially, Asim Riaz didn’t post anything about their breakup. Later, he issued a statement in which he wrote, “Yes, indeed, we both agreed to sacrifice our love for our respective religious beliefs. We both are 30+ and we have full right to take these mature decisions and we made it. We’ve decided to part ways amicably, embracing our journeys. Respect for Himanshi and our diverse path, and yes indeed, I told her to write the real reason for our separation. Request you all to respect our privacy.”
Their fans were quite sad after this announcement. This isn’t the first time couples who found love in the house of Big Boss shocked fans with their breakup news. Previously, couples like Karishma Tanna and Upen Patel and Gauahar Khan and Kushal Tandon had also created quite a stir with their breakups.
