Bengaluru: Devi, an ardent RCB supporter and the only child of her parents, had taken a short break from work to join the victory parade celebrations. “She kept requesting her manager for permission and finally got the nod around 2:30 PM. She was so thrilled—and then this tragedy struck,” recalled a friend, holding back tears. “Her laptop is still on the office desk, her bags are untouched—but she’s gone.”

Originally from Tamil Nadu, Devi had studied in Bengaluru and continued to work at a tech company in the city she had grown to love. A loyal RCB fan, she had never missed a match since settling there. “She absolutely adored Virat Kohli,” her friend shared. “When she found out RCB was giving away entry passes for fans to attend the celebration at Chinnaswamy Stadium, she was determined to be there.”

Unfortunately, by the time she checked online, the tickets were already sold out. Still hopeful, she decided to go to the stadium in person to try her luck. Her last message to a friend read: “I’m taking the metro!”
That was the final communication.

“A hospital call came—they reached us using the emergency contact listed in her records. We rushed there immediately,” said the friend. “Her parents are being contacted, but we’re at a loss for how to break the news.”
