Harshvardhan Gets Trolled Over His Fake Sneakers Comment

On Monday, Harsh Vardhan Kapoor encountered abuse when he urged people not to wear fake sneakers. He was charged with being arrogant and demeaning to those who couldn’t buy pricey shoes. The actor responded to the trolling by saying that whenever he says something, “people on social media will go crazy.”
Harsh Vardhan reacted to a tweet criticizing him by writing on X (previously Twitter), “When I put this out, I already knew people would come after me, etc. However, I’ve been doing this for a while, and I can tell you that reps (replicas) of iconic shoes cost more than, for example, a pair of Converse Old Skool Vans or a worn pair of Air Force One.”
“A lot of my followers are aficionados or are trying to collect, and that’s the audience I’m speaking to,” he continued. “I know every time I say something, there will be people on social media who don’t know anything about footwear, etc., going crazy,” he said. “You can now keep losing your mind here to temporarily feel happy.”
The actor’s statement backfired when many criticized him for being ‘elitist’ and said that he essentially encouraged his supporters ‘not to be poor.’ On X, formerly Twitter, a user posted a screenshot of the actor’s Instagram Story with the message, “Friends, can you like… stop being poor and buy some money?” The post became popular. A user wrote, “Then come along both the Kapoor siblings & their entitled attitude every single time.” Like older sister, like younger brother, a user said about Sonam Kapoor’s several controversial remarks in the past. “I sincerely believed Sonam was the only ‘privilege talks’ member of their family. Welcome to the group, Harshvardhan,” another user said. Another person said, “My poor eyes had to endure this twice. One reason was the content of the message, and the other was the unattractive font.”
