Along with Haniyeh, his bodyguard has also been killed. Haniyeh was included in Israel’s hit list for decades. His death is being considered as revenge for the October 7 attack.

Tehran: Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has been killed in Iran’s capital Tehran. Saudi media reports say that a missile attack has been carried out. According to a statement from the Iranian IRGC, Haniyeh and one of his guards were allegedly murdered at their residence in Tehran. “With condolences to the nation of Palestine and the fighters of the Islamic Nation and Resistance Front and the great nation of Iran, this morning [Wednesday] an attack was made on the residence of Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political office of the Islamic Resistance Hamas in Tehran,” the statement said. And after this incident, he and one of his bodyguards were martyred. Iran’s statement did not provide any details on how Haniyeh was killed.
Hezbollah-affiliated news site Al Mayadin claimed Israel killed him. Israeli officials have not yet commented. Israel had vowed to kill Haniyeh and other Hamas leaders after the October 7 attack. In this attack, 1200 Israeli civilians were killed and 250 were taken hostage. It is claimed that 150 hostages are still in the custody of Hamas. At the same time, Hamas claims that more than 39 thousand Palestinian civilians have been killed so far in Israeli attacks.
Haniyeh’s three sons were killed in April.
In April this year, Israeli security forces killed Haniyeh’s three sons. All three were killed during an airstrike in the Gaza Strip. The IDF had claimed that Haniyeh’s three sons, Amir, Hazem, and Mohammed, were involved in terrorist activities.
