5 Men Sentenced to Life for Murdering Gurugram BJP Leader Sukhbir Khatana

A Gurugram court has handed down life imprisonment to five men convicted of murdering local BJP leader Sukhbir Khatana alias Sukhi. Additional Sessions Judge Sunil Kumar Diwan also slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh on each of the convicts.

- Murder Incident: Sukhbir Khatana was gunned down in broad daylight on September 1, 2022, at a Raymond showroom on Gurdwara Road near Sadar Bazaar in Gurugram.
- Motive: The murder was allegedly due to a grudge held by Khatana’s brother-in-law Chaman against Sukhbir. Chaman had conducted reconnaissance of Khatana more than 10 times before the murder.
- Arrests and Convictions: The Special Task Force (STF) arrested 20 people involved in the murder. The court sentenced five of them — Chaman, Yogesh, Deepak, Arun alias Ankul, and Rahul — to life imprisonment.
