In a momentous development, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, joined by leaders from around the world, including Singapore, Bangladesh, Italy, USA, Brazil, Argentina, Mauritius, and the UAE, inaugurated the Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA) on September 9, 2023. This significant initiative was unveiled on the sidelines of the G20 Summit hosted in New Delhi.
The Global Biofuel Alliance is a visionary undertaking led by India in its role as the G20 Chair. At its core, the GBA seeks to accelerate the worldwide adoption of biofuels through several strategic avenues. These include advancing biofuel-related technologies, promoting the sustainable use of biofuels, establishing robust standards and certifications, and engaging a diverse range of stakeholders.
Additionally, the alliance will serve as a central repository of knowledge and an expert hub, furthering its mission to drive global collaboration for the advancement and widespread adoption of biofuels.
The launch of the GBA marks a significant step forward in the global effort to address energy sustainability and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By fostering cooperation among nations and stakeholders, this alliance holds the promise of ushering in a greener and more sustainable future for our planet.
