Ghaziabad Assault: Woman, Mother Booked for Beating Mother-in-Law

Ghaziabad: A shocking incident of domestic violence has come to light in Ghaziabad’s Govindpuram locality. A software engineer, Akanksha, and her mother allegedly assaulted Akanksha’s 65-year-old mother-in-law, Sudesh Devi. A CCTV clip of the incident, which surfaced online, shows the two women mercilessly beating Sudesh Devi, sparking widespread outrage.
The Incident
This Ghaziabad incident of domestic violence occurred on July 1. And the CCTV footage reveals Akanksha arguing with her mother-in-law while her mother films the confrontation. When Sudesh Devi tries to snatch the phone, both women push her to the ground and repeatedly beat her. The victim’s husband, Satyapal Singh, is a retired Delhi government teacher. He alleged that they were initially turned away when they tried to file a complaint at the Kavi Nagar police station.
Police Action
Following the viral video, the police have registered an NCR (Non-Cognizable Report) against Akanksha and her mother. City DCP Dhawal Jaiswal confirmed that the complaint states that Akanksha regularly mistreated her in-laws, and an NCR was registered under relevant sections.
Family’s Allegations
The victim’s family claims that the abuse has been ongoing for months, with Akanksha allegedly harassing her in-laws daily. Satyapal Singh stated that their son, Antariksh, a software engineer, married Akanksha two and a half years ago. And the family has been suffering at her hands ever since.
Notable Connection
Interestingly, Akanksha’s father is reportedly a Delhi Police officer, which has raised questions about the accountability and action taken against her.
The police are now investigating the matter, and the case has sparked a wider conversation about domestic violence and the need for stricter laws to protect victims.
