The father of the alleged attacker in the stabbing case involving Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has come forward to defend his son, claiming he has been falsely accused. In an interview with the news agency IANS, Mohammad Ruhul Amin Fakir stated that the person seen in the CCTV footage does not resemble his son, Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir.

“Based on what’s shown in the CCTV… my son never keeps his hair long. I firmly believe he is being framed,” Amin Fakir said.

Shariful, originally from Bangladesh, reportedly moved to India due to political instability in his home country. His father explained that Shariful was working in India, earning a regular salary, and had even been appreciated by his employer.

“He left Bangladesh to escape the political unrest and came to India for a better future. He was employed, earning a salary, and his work was recognised by his employer,” Fakir shared.

He added that his son relocated to Mumbai from West Bengal to secure better-paying jobs in the city’s hospitality sector. Despite the severity of the charges, Amin Fakir emphasised that he has not been contacted by the police. “We are completely alone in India. We don’t know anyone here and have no support,” he said.

Amin Fakir also mentioned that he had last spoken to his son the day after the alleged attack occurred. He noted that Shariful typically received his salary on the 10th of each month and would call him afterward.
