Fans Held a Birthday Celebration for BTS’s Jin While Awaiting His Return

Fans of the renowned South Korean boy band BTS came together on December 4th to celebrate the 31st birthday of their eldest member, Jin. Despite his absence from the limelight for over a year due to his mandatory military service, the festivities for Jin’s birthday this year were nothing short of extraordinary.
Their fans, lovingly calling themselves “Army,” always organize grand celebrations worldwide for each member’s birthday. However, the celebrations for Jin’s birthday this year were unique.
BTS, currently one of the world’s most popular boy bands, adheres to South Korea’s compulsory military service, a two-year commitment for male citizens aged 18 to 35. BTS members are not exempt from this, and they are actively willing to fulfill this duty. Jin enlisted on December 13, 2022, actively serving in the forces since then.
ARMYs worldwide have always celebrated his birthday on December 4th by marking it as ‘Jin Day.’ However, what makes his birthday celebrations special this year is that even after not being present in the limelight for such a long time, his fans have not forgotten him and are eagerly awaiting his return from the army.
In the November ‘Pick Your Own Idol’ star voting event held on the web service ‘Idolpick,’ Jin garnered about 376,063 votes and secured first place in the final ranking. Due to this, his fans were able to have a special birthday celebration popup and an online article on the Idolpick app. They were also able to hold a four-day advertising display dedicated to Jin at Seodaemun Station in Seoul. Along with that, there was a seven-day outdoor LED billboard birthday advertisement for him in the Myeong-dong district.
Jin was unable to host a livestream this year. However, he expressed his gratitude to his fans for their birthday wishes through an emotional message on the online ‘Weverse’ platform. He thanked them for their wishes and conveyed his regret for not being able to celebrate his birthday with his fans but assured them that he was enjoying his day.
He mentioned that he had already completed a year of his military service and expressed excitement for his return to his band and fans. He also talked about the upcoming enlistment of his other band members and said, “I hope that time passes quickly, and I can have a good time with the members and the ARMYs.” In addition, Jin surprised his fans by sharing the news that he had been promoted to the rank of sergeant from corporal due to his exceptional performance during his military service.
Jin’s brother, Kim Seok-joong, posted on his Instagram account that the singer had asked him to visit the fan-run events on his behalf and express his gratitude to his beloved fans. Fans were moved by this kind gesture and expressed their love on social media by writing, “This is so wholesome. Seokjin cares about us so much.”
The love that fans have shown for Jin’s birthday this year has assured that fans have not forgotten him and are eagerly waiting for his return. Jin is supposed to complete his mandatory military enlistment by June 2024.
