The Noida Police have busted a fake paneer racket, seizing over 1,400 kgs of the counterfeit product and arresting four individuals. The fake paneer was being sold at ₹180-220 per kg, significantly cheaper than real paneer, and supplied to vendors, roadside stalls, and eateries across Delhi-NCR.

Acting on a tip-off, the Noida Sector-63 Police stopped a pick-up truck and found the fake paneer inside. The driver, Gulfam, revealed that the paneer was being transported from a factory in Aligarh. The police then raided the factory, located in Sahajpura village, and arrested three more individuals – Guddu, Ikhlaq, and Naveed.

The factory was found to be manufacturing fake paneer using a mixture of starchy powder, water, chemicals, and artificial white colour. The mixture was then curdled, tied inside a cloth to remove excess water, and mixed with palm oil to give it a creamy look.

The police have seized the raw materials and equipment used for making the fake paneer, including a fake paneer-making machine. The authorities are now on the lookout for the buyers and sellers of the fake product.

The arrests highlight the need for stricter quality control measures in the food industry to prevent such incidents. The police investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken against those involved in the racket.
