Egypt’s Tourism Development Initiatives Aim to Fuel Economic Growth

In a recent announcement, Egypt’s Local Development Minister, Hisham Amna, unveiled the nation’s ambitious tourism development initiatives during his visit to Zhengzhou, China, on Monday. Egypt has a commitment to advancing the development of tourist and heritage sites, economic growth, and enhancing the overall quality of life for its citizens. With a rich cultural heritage and historic treasures, these assets have become central to Egypt’s economic development strategy.

Amna also remarked in the speech at the opening session of the International Mayors Forum on Tourism, highlighted the Egyptian government government is improving their infrastructure in cities that have tourist attractions and the tourist industry.

Amna has taken broad steps and adopted important initiatives over the past decades in Egyptian cities, which can have a positive impact on urban development and the quality of life.

The Egyptian government demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainable heritage preservation – “Maximizing the benefits of natural and cultural heritage in our tourist cities to achieve sustainable tourism goals related to enhancing economic and social justice at the local level.”

Amna invited the participants to the 12th World Urban Forum in Cairo next year. The International Mayor Forum on Tourism will join the event in Cairo next year. The Local Communist Party of China Committee and the Governor of Henan province discussed ways to improve cooperation on development projects in the meeting. China and Egypt tied the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-SiSi and President Xi Jinping. It also stressed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Beijing’s One-Belt-One-Road policy.

The delegates included Khaled Abdel Aal, governor of Cairo, Mostafa Alham, governor of Luxor in the South, and several senior officials from the Ministry of Local Development. Abdel Aal said that the government has various strategies and policies to enhance services for citizens. The government aims for deeper collaboration with China in tourism and beyond.

The Egyptian government targets the private sector for investment growth. Alham will hold bilateral talks with Chinese delegates at the forum.
