YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has joined the ongoing debate surrounding India’s Got Latent and the multiple FIRs filed against Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia. In his latest video, released Wednesday night, Dhruv weighed in on the controversy that has ignited discussions across the nation, media, and social platforms.

While maintaining that the government should not interfere in online content by imposing bans, Dhruv strongly criticized comedians who resort to crude and offensive humour. He condemned a joke by Ranveer on the show as “bhadda” (crude) and “obscene” while also pointing out the hypocrisy of those who attack him using similarly abusive language.

Dhruv challenged the widespread belief that media, including web series, movies, and jokes, have no impact on people’s mindsets. He argued that morality is not innate but shaped by external influences. Highlighting the problematic nature of Samay Raina’s show, Dhruv called out its excessive use of profanity and offensive language, referencing an instance where a woman was referred to as ku**ya (bi*ch) during a roast of comedian Kusha Kapila, which left her visibly hurt.

He further discussed how casual objectification in comedy has real-world consequences, citing the harassment of Russian women in India after comedian Harsh Gujral repeatedly made jokes about their “rate.” Dhruv also played clips from The Kapil Sharma Show, pointing out instances where Kapil engaged in inappropriate behavior, including an unsolicited hug, calling it another example of chichorapanti (lewd behavior).

According to Dhruv, such jokes normalize inappropriate conduct, encouraging men to use degrading language toward women in real life. He asserted that the primary aim of such humor is merely to provoke a reaction rather than offer genuine comedy.

In his video, Dhruv urged comedians to adopt a more responsible approach by punching up rather than down. He praised comedians like Gaurav Kapoor, Abhishek Upmanyu, Manik Manha, and Kunal Kamra for their work but also advised them to avoid excessive profanity in their performances.
