New Delhi: Delhi experienced a huge political earthquake that will reshape its landscape in the future as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won a landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, securing a two-thirds majority and ending the decade-long dominance of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

After this landslide victory, BJP leader Parvesh Verma said that February 8 will be written in “golden letters” in the history of Delhi as the national capital has finally got the “good government” it was waiting for. Addressing a huge public gathering in his native village Mundka, Verma attributed the victory to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the new BJP government will work with “honesty and utmost determination.”

AAP’s Downfall, Congress’ Total Collapse

The results were disastrous for the AAP, which suffered a sharp drop in its tally. The most shocking defeat came when the BJP’s Parvesh Verma defeated former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal by over 4,000 votes in the New Delhi constituency. The Congress, once a major force in the capital, failed to win a single seat for the third consecutive election, continuing its decline.

BJP’s Bold Promises—20-Hour Workdays for Delhi

Parvesh Verma assured that the BJP MLA will work tirelessly to transform Delhi. He said, “We will devote 20-22 hours a day for the development of Delhi. People’s role is over with the elections—now it is our turn to work. With the blessings of Prime Minister Modi, we will bring real development to the city.”

Verma was seen emotional and paid tribute to his father and former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma and reiterated his commitment to complete his unfinished work.

This victory in Delhi came after the BJP-led alliance’s victories in Maharashtra and Haryana, strengthening the party’s grip on national politics. With this win, the BJP has regained control of Delhi after 27 years, expanding its influence across the country.

With the saffron wave sweeping the capital, all eyes will be on the BJP’s next steps. Will they be able to deliver on their tall promises and transform Delhi into what they claim? The city is watching.
