The Delhi government has announced plans to establish over 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) across the city by March 2026. The move aims to overhaul Delhi’s primary healthcare network and provide comprehensive healthcare services to residents.
Key Features of AAMs:
- Comprehensive Healthcare: AAMs will offer 12 service packages, including maternal and child health, mental healthcare, geriatric support, and management of chronic diseases.
- Lab Tests and Preventive Care: The centers will provide lab tests, preventive care, and national health programme support in-house.
- Permanent Infrastructure: Unlike the previous Mohalla Clinics, AAMs will have permanent infrastructure and qualified staff.
Government’s Vision:
- Better Healthcare System: The government aims to provide a better, more reliable healthcare system to Delhi residents.
- Financial Relief: The AAMs and Jan Aushadhi Kendras (JAKs) will provide financial relief to patients by offering affordable medicines and medical equipment.
AAP’s Response:
- Rebranding Allegations: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP of rebranding AAP’s work and not building anything new.
- Criticism of BJP’s Narrative: AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the BJP’s narrative is “an exercise in daily lies” and that the party is hijacking AAP’s work.
