Delhi School of Journalism Hosts Guest Lecture on “New World Order and Role of Media”

New Delhi, September 4, 2025: The Delhi School of Journalism, University of Delhi, organized a special lecture under its weekly lecture series on the topic “New World Order and Role of Media”. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Satish Kumar, Professor of Political Science at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
In his address, Prof. Kumar emphasized that India is now a knowledge power, stressing the country’s commitment to sustainable development and its vision of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family). He highlighted India’s role in global affairs, citing its leadership in the G-20 summit and its efforts to promote green energy.
Prof. Kumar also discussed the role of media in shaping narratives about India, pointing out that Western media often presents a skewed perspective on issues like the Godhra riots and Kashmir violence. He emphasized the need for journalism students to understand international relations in the Indian context and to learn from Indian philosophers like Sri Aurobindo and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
The lecture was well-received by students and faculty members, who engaged in a lively question-and-answer session. Dr. Sanjay Verma, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of the institute, welcomed the keynote speaker and highlighted the significance of the lecture series. Dr. Vikas Singh, faculty member of DSJ, introduced the speaker and proposed a vote of thanks.
The program concluded with a group photograph, marking a successful event that underscored the importance of understanding the new world order and the role of media in shaping global narratives.
