A shocking bribery scandal has rocked the Delhi Police, with a woman sub-inspector, two constables, and two civilians being arrested for allegedly extorting Rs 20 lakh from a complainant. The accused police personnel were posted at Paschim Vihar East police station.

The Incident

The complainant, who runs an educational consulting firm, alleged that a police officer from Paschim Vihar East station arrived at his office and accused him of running his business illegally. The officer then forced him to board an SUV and took him to a police booth in Peera Garhi, where he was demanded to pay Rs 50 lakh. After negotiations, the amount was settled at Rs 20 lakh as the first installment.

Arrests and Investigation

Sub-Inspector Neetu Bhist, a Head Constable, and a Constable were caught red-handed by the Outer District police after the complainant lodged a complaint. The two civilians arrested were known to the complainant and had allegedly forced him to sign two cheques to “settle” the matter with the police. The police are now investigating the role of the Station House Officer (SHO) of Paschim Vihar East police station in the incident.

Action Against Accused

The process to suspend the accused officers will be initiated once the preliminary inquiry is complete. This incident highlights the growing concern over corruption within the police force, with at least 10 officers arrested for taking bribes in the first seven months of 2025.
