In a shocking turn of events, the Delhi Crime Branch has solved a murder case that dates back to July last year. The victim, Pritam Prakash, a 42-year-old man with a history of crime, was killed by his wife’s lover’s acquaintance, who was paid Rs 50,000 to do the deed.

The Murder Plot

Pritam’s wife, Soniya, had been in a relationship with Rohit, a cab driver with a criminal past, whom she met on social media in 2023. Tired of Pritam’s repeated assaults under the influence of drugs, Soniya decided to get him killed so that she could start a new life with Rohit. She approached Rohit with the proposal, but he initially refused, suggesting she hire a killer for Rs 6 lakh, which Soniya couldn’t afford.

The Crime

Soniya then approached her sister’s brother-in-law, Vijay, who agreed to kill Pritam for Rs 50,000. On July 5, 2023, Vijay murdered Pritam at Soniya’s sister’s home in Sonipat, Haryana, and disposed of his body in a drain. Soniya filed a missing person complaint to cover her tracks.

Investigation and Arrest

The Delhi Crime Branch, investigating Pritam’s disappearance, tracked his phone to Sonipat and discovered it was being used by Rohit. Rohit’s failure to destroy the phone led to his arrest, and he eventually revealed the murder plot. Soniya was also arrested and confessed to the crime, revealing she had paid Vijay Rs 50,000 for the murder.

Current Status

Rohit and Soniya have been arrested, while Vijay is already in jail for a separate theft case. The police investigation highlighted the complexities of human relationships and the extreme measures people can take to escape troubled situations.
