New Delhi: In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Delhi Airport has stated that while operations remain unaffected overall, some flights may experience delays or changes due to evolving airspace conditions.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), airport authorities encouraged passengers to check for updates with their respective airlines and to trust only official sources for information. “Delhi Airport operations are running normally, though certain flights are impacted by airspace changes and increased security. Please consult your airline for updates. We urge everyone to avoid spreading unverified information and are coordinating with all stakeholders to minimise disruptions,” the statement read.
In response to heightened security protocols issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Air India advised passengers to arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to departure. “#TravelAdvisory: Due to new security measures at airports nationwide, travellers should reach the airport three hours ahead of scheduled departure. Check-in counters will close 75 minutes before takeoff,” the airline posted on X.
Akasa Airlines issued a similar alert, advising travellers to carry valid government-issued photo IDs and to limit cabin baggage to one 7 kg handbag. “Owing to reinforced security at all Indian airports, passengers should arrive three hours before departure to ensure smooth boarding. Secondary security screening before boarding is mandatory,” the airline said.
Akasa further recommended using online check-in via its website or mobile app to save time and thanked passengers for their cooperation.
These advisories come after ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri, Kupwara, Tangdhar, and Karnah regions.
