Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated, “Jammu and Kashmir is incomplete without PoK”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh highlighted that terrorist training camps are operating in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking at the 9th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day event in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir, emphasised that Jammu and Kashmir is “incomplete” without Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). He warned Pakistan against operating terrorist training camps in PoK, stating, “PoK is nothing more than foreign territory for Pakistan, but its land is being misused for terrorism. Pakistan must dismantle these camps, or it will face consequences.” Singh also remarked that cross-border terrorism could have ended in 1965 if the then Lal Bahadur Shastri-led government had converted India’s tactical military gains into a strategic advantage during the war.
Reflecting on the 1965 Indo-Pak war, Singh said India successfully thwarted Pakistan’s attempts in Akhnoor but criticised Pakistan for perpetuating terrorism and illegal infiltration since then. He noted that more than 80% of terrorists entering India originate from Pakistan and acknowledged the sacrifices of Indian Muslims in fighting terrorism.
Singh underlined the central government’s priority to bridge the gap between Kashmir and the rest of the country, citing various steps being taken in this regard. He lauded the presence of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who expressed his gratitude to veterans for their sacrifices and assured efforts to provide them with better facilities and support.
The event also highlighted Armed Forces Veterans’ Day, celebrated annually on January 14th to honourr Field Marshal KM Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, who retired on this day in 1953.
