Could GT Qualify for This IPL Season’s Top Four?
Ahmedabad: Last week, the Gujarat Titans defeated the defending champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to maintain their hopes for the final of IPL 2024. A rematch was won by Chennai Super Kings last time at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
A must-win match for GT to keep their hopes alive in the top four teams of IPL 2024. Moreover, a loss in this match should have put curtains on their IPL campaign. However, an emphatic win helped GT qualify for the next round of IPL 2024, thereby keeping them alive in the tournament.
This win increased the rank of GT, and they moved from the 10th position to eighth in the contest. Moreover, their total points with this win have become ten. They now have 10 points from five wins and 12 losses in this tournament. Regarding their chances of qualification in IPL 2024, they are very rigid and need many chances to move in their favor.
GT’s Playoff Scenario
Gujarat Titans have two crucial matches ahead in this season of IPL. One GT match is with Kolkata Knight Riders, and another with Sun Risers Hyderabad, which is a must-win situation for them. Further, GT needs to win both matches; one loss will kick them out of the tournament. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants lost their last match with Sun Risers Hyderabad. GT would hope they will get LSG to be defeated in their upcoming matches and remain at 12 points. Furthermore, Delhi Capitals (DC) are in the same situation with 12 points, and their next match is with GT; any team that wins this match will move ahead of others and get 14 points on the table.
GT, the IPL 2022 champions, must rely on plenty of factors to remain in this season of IPL. However, the most important factor is that the former champion will be defeating two opponents in the coming two encounters, increasing either NRR, and ending the contest on a high note.
