COP 28 Summit in Dubai: A Crucial Pledge Against Climate Change

The COP-28 event, taking place in Dubai, marks a pivotal moment where countries have pledged to fight against climate change. It is the 28th edition of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, which began on 30th November and will end on 12th December. The current edition is being organized at Expo City in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Summit aims to spearhead paradigm shifts vital for our planet’s sustainable and resilient future. The Summit aims to plan the future roadmap to have a considerable reduction in emissions based on the progress and the growth of the previous conferences.

The Summit stressed accelerating the renewable energy base. It also urged scaling up affordable zero-carbon options like Green Hydrogen. Climate change has become a cause of concern in recent years, and measures are being adopted on every platform to tackle this issue.

The Summit recognized the need to invest in both people and nature to counter the impact of climate change. The conference stressed the impact of climate change on low-income countries. There is an urgent need for human well-being and the preservation of the environment. Including the youth in such matters has been a striking feature of COP-28.

The Global Stock Rate provides a reality check on the progress of the goals and objectives of the Paris Agreement. As per the sources, we are not able to limit Global Warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. This revelation stresses the need for a paradigm shift as stated in COP 28.

The 2023 Conference of Parties of UNFCCC or United Nations Climate Change Conference is otherwise known as COP 28. The Conference has been held every year since the Climate Agreement of 1992. The Conference intends to make policies to restrict global temperature rises and address the impacts of climate change. It is also the only multilateral decision-making platform for climate change. This year, the United Arab Emirates hosted the event with Sultan Al Jaber presiding over. The country is also one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world with a very hot and humid climate. Above 70,000 delegates are supposed to attend COP 28, including the member countries of UNFCCC.
