Andhra Pradesh: CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday accused former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of permitting inappropriate activities in the Tirupati Temple during his five-year tenure.
“Over the past five years, many improper practices took place in Tirumala, even prompting protests from devotees. The laddu prasadam and food served at Tirumala are made with pure ingredients, giving them a distinct taste. During my time as CM, I was referred to as Ramdev Baba, and we planted several Ayurvedic plants around the temple,” Naidu said. He also announced that a Santhi Homam and Panchagavya Prokshana (ritual purification) will be conducted on Monday at the Tirumala Temple.
“From 6 am to 10 am on Monday, the Santhi Homam and Panchagavya Prokshana will be performed at the Bangaru Bavi (golden well) Yagashala (ritual site) in the Srivari (Sri Venkateswara) temple,” he added.
Naidu further accused Jagan Mohan Reddy of appointing close associates to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board. “The trust board appointments resembled gambling, with temple tickets being sold at their discretion. At one point, we had to protest and were even arrested in Tirupati. They appointed their allies to the board and gave prominence to non-Hindus, exploiting TTD for political gains,” Naidu stated. He also held Reddy responsible for the distribution of adulterated ghee used in Tirupati prasadam.
