CHENNAI: Police in Rajamangalam, Chennai, have arrested a woman, Chithra, from Bhavani Nagar in Kolathur, and her lover, Dhanasekar, 39, from Red Hills, for the murder of her husband.
Rajasekar, Chithra’s husband and a truck driver, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on November 1. The couple, who have a 17-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son, reportedly had frequent arguments over Chithra’s relationship with Dhanasekar, the owner of the truck Rajasekar drove.
On November 1, Chithra alerted neighbors that Rajasekar had suffered a heart attack and was unresponsive. He was taken to a nearby private hospital, where doctors found injuries on his neck and notified the Rajamangalam police. His body was sent to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem, which confirmed strangulation as the cause of death, ruling it a murder.
Chithra was arrested on Thursday, and during questioning, she confessed to the murder. She revealed that she and Dhanasekar had conspired to kill Rajasekar. After Rajasekar allegedly threatened her on Diwali, she invited Dhanasekar to their home, and together they strangled him. Chithra then staged the scene to appear as though Rajasekar had died from a heart attack.
