CBSE Board Exam 2025: CBSE Released Practical Exam Details of Class 10 and 12

The Central Board of Secondary Education has unveiled the practical exam dates and subject-wise marks distribution for Class 10 and 12 CBSE board examinations in 2025.
In the official notice of CBSE, it was mentioned that the practical exams will commence on January 1 for schools, except for winter-bound regions where the practical exams will be conducted earlier, from November 5 to December 5, 2024, as schools in these regions will be closed for winter vacation due to extreme cold and a drop in temperature during that period.
On the other hand, theory exams are set to start on February 15, 2025. As the exam period is approaching, students are encouraged to download sample papers for Class 10 and Class 12 from the CBSE academic portal at cbseacademic.nic.in. This could help students to achieve good marks and familiarize themselves with the new exam pattern, as the NEP has been implemented in the CBSE curriculum. The policy is being implemented in phases, with some changes already introduced in the 2022-2023 academic session, and CBSE has introduced new subjects, courses, and assessment patterns aligned with NEP 2020.
The Board also mandates 75% attendance for a student to be eligible for the board examination, while a 25% relaxation is given in case of exigencies such as medical emergencies, participation in national and international sports events, as well as for some other reasons.
CBSE has given strict instructions to schools to adhere to the guidelines mentioned in the official notice: “All schools must ensure that the practical exams are conducted within the prescribed timeline to avoid any issues.”
There will be competency-based questions in next year’s exams, so students are advised to brush up on their knowledge and study according to the syllabus provided by CBSE. These competency-based questions will help in assessing students’ practical knowledge and determining real-life scenarios and analytical thinking when facing real-life problems.
