Can England Stage a Resurgence in the 2nd T20I?

The Indian cricket team will play their 2nd T20I against England at MA Chidambaram Stadium on 25 January, Saturday. After defeating England with a thumping seven-wicket victory, the Indian team is full of confidence.

In the first T20I, Shami being left out of the playing XI surprised everyone. It is unlikely that a 34-year-old pacer would not make it into the playing XI, as the selection committee wants to assess Shami’s form and fitness before the Champions Trophy.

Ravi Bishnoi is likely to make way for the 34-year-old pacer, as the team could play with two specialist pacers in Chennai after Arshdeep was the lone fast bowler in Kolkata, with Hardik Pandya sharing the new ball with him, which was not effective. However, the Chennai surface is traditionally known to help spin, which could mean that Washington Sundar comes into the lineup and takes the place of Nitish Kumar.

After their defeat in the first T20I, England might press the panic button and opt for an extra spinner on a pitch expected to assist spinners in Chennai.
