Business Magnate Subrata Roy Laid to Rest in Emotional Farewell Ceremony

The final rites of the revered entrepreneur and Sahara Group founder, Subrata Roy, were solemnly performed in a poignant ceremony on Thursday evening in Bhaisakund, Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow district. Amidst the heartfelt rituals, Roy’s 16-year-old grandson, Himanc, conducted the last rites, paying homage to his illustrious grandfather.

Roy’s sons, Sushanto and Seemanto, were unable to attend the funeral as they were abroad during this solemn occasion.

The departure of Subrata Roy was marked by a poignant procession from Sahara Shahar in Gomti Nagar to Baikunth Dham around 4:30 pm. In the company of close associates, Sahara Group employees, and renowned personalities like singer Sonu Nigam, filmmaker Boney Kapoor, and others, the crowd bid farewell to this titan of industry, remembering him fondly as the “man with the golden heart.”

“I have a long association with Subrata Roy. He was a great personality. He was a fatherly figure, who often pampered and advised me like my brother. He was a true patriot. I was in Dubai when I came to know about his demise, I came all the way from Dubai to Lucknow to say him a final goodbye,” expressed singer Sonu Nigam, reminiscing about his deep bond with Roy.

Subrata Roy, a prominent figure in retail, real estate, and finance, passed away on Tuesday night in Mumbai due to cardiorespiratory arrest amidst ongoing health concerns. His mortal remains were brought to Sahara Shahar, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, where numerous dignitaries paid their respects.

Among the dignitaries paying tribute were Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Congress leader Aradhana Mishra Mona, and several other political figures. Both Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav expressed deep sorrow over Roy’s demise, acknowledging his significant contributions to both the state and the country.

Yogi Adityanath shared a heartfelt post, praying for solace for Roy’s departed soul and strength for the grieving family, stating, “The demise of Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy is very sad. Prayers to Lord Shri Ram to give place to the departed soul at his feet and give strength to the bereaved family members to bear this immense sorrow. Om Shanti.”

Akhilesh Yadav echoed similar sentiments, highlighting Roy’s multifaceted personality as a successful businessman with a compassionate heart, emphasizing his extensive support to countless individuals. Roy’s passing is deeply felt as a loss not only to Uttar Pradesh but to the nation as well.
