Blaze Erupts at Maha Kumbh Sector-18 in Prayagraj; Fire Tenders Rushed to the Scene

A fire broke out at an ISKCON camp in Maha Kumbh Nagar, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday, according to fire officials who spoke to news agency PTI. The incident occurred in Sector 18, Shankaracharya Marg, within the Maha Kumbh Mela area.
Chief Fire Officer Pramod Sharma informed PTI that fire tenders were promptly dispatched after receiving the alert, and the blaze has now been completely contained. Thick plumes of smoke engulfed the fairgrounds, causing panic among nearby akhadas.
While no casualties have been reported, the fire spread to over a dozen neighbouring camps, resulting in significant damage, PTI reported.
Inspector Yogesh Chaturvedi from Khak Chowk police station stated that the fire initially broke out at a camp near Tulsi Chauraha on Old GT Road, but firefighters have largely brought it under control. Fire department officials are on-site, overseeing the situation.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damage. DIG (Maha Kumbh) Vaibhav Krishna confirmed that the fire has been fully controlled, adding on X, “There are no injuries reported.”
This marks the third fire incident reported in the Kumbh Mela area.
