Union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Nirmala Sitharaman, and other BJP leaders strongly criticised Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about the BJP and RSS during the inauguration of the Congress party’s new headquarters in Delhi.
Hardeep Singh Puri, speaking to reporters, suggested that Rahul Gandhi should “have his mental stability checked” following his comments at the newly opened ‘Indira Gandhi Bhawan.’
In his speech, Gandhi criticised RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who had previously suggested that India’s independence should be celebrated on the day of the Ram temple consecration rather than on August 15. Gandhi called Bhagwat’s statement treasonous and declared that the Congress was not just opposing the BJP or RSS ideologies but was also fighting against the Indian state, which he claimed had become a threat to democracy.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda also expressed outrage, posting on X (formerly Twitter), “Congress’ ugly truth has been exposed by their own leader. I ‘commend’ Mr. Rahul Gandhi for openly admitting that he is fighting the Indian state.” Nadda further accused Gandhi of aligning with urban Naxals and the deep state to destabilise and tarnish India’s image.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman questioned Gandhi’s commitment to the Constitution, saying, “The Leader of Opposition, who took an oath on the Constitution, is now claiming, ‘We are fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian state.’ Why, then, is he carrying a copy of the Constitution in his hand?”
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya also criticised Gandhi on X, sharing a video of his speech and claiming that Gandhi had declared “open war against the Indian state,” describing his actions as being inspired by George Soros’s agenda.
