BJP Minority Leader Went Missing and Was Later Found Dead in Assam
47-year-old Abdul Sattar, the minority leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a former panchayat member was reportedly found dead in a river in Assam’s Karimganj district on Friday. Family members of the deceased claim that he had been missing since October 23.
Residents discovered the lifeless body floating on Friday morning, according to the police, and it was sent to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for a postmortem. According to Sattar’s family, his hands and feet were tied when his body was discovered inside a sack. They added, “They killed him, and they threw the body and large stones into the river.”
He was tormented, as evidenced by the outward damage marks on different portions of his body. The SP stated, “We have filed a case under murder and several other offenses in response to the family members’ complaint,” he added.
The wrists and feet were tied, confirmed by the local police, but they won’t comment on this until a thorough investigation has been conducted. An investigating officer stated, “There is a large injury mark on his forehead, but we cannot reveal much until we get the postmortem report.”
The family members claim that at approximately nine o’clock on October 23, Sattar received several calls and informed them that he needed to travel to the home of the local MLA for a crucial meeting. “He didn’t come back during the night, and when we contacted him at 12:30 in the morning, we discovered that his phone was off. We told the police and other party leaders the following day,” a family member recalled.
During a fight about four months ago, Sattar’s son told the media that he had been threatened with being decapitated by a group of Congress figures. “Surman Ali, a local Congress politician from our village, declared he would give my father’s killer a large sum of money.” The same day, his friends Mukabbir Ali and Sattar Ali threatened to decapitate his father, cook his head, and consume it, according to Sattar’s son. In their Friday FIR filed at the Patharkandi Police Station, they have named all three of them along with a woman.
