BJP Disclosed 12th Candidates’ List; Fields Abhijit Das Bobby for Diamond Harbour Seat

New Delhi, 16 April: The first phase of the Lok Sabha election is starting on 19 April. The party leaders are already gearing up for their campaign. The Bharatiya Janata Party leader is already on the road, holding public meetings. The Bharatiya Janata Party disclosed its 12th list of seven candidates on Tuesday. Abhijit Das Bobby is a candidate from Diamond Harbour in West Bengal. Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhosale is a candidate from Satara in Maharashtra. And the 13th descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is one of the seven contenders. 

Abhijit Das Bobby is now sitting against current Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee. Also previously, in the general elections of 2009 and 2014, Abhijit Das Bobby stood against him. And unsuccessfully ran for the Diamond Harbour seat.

MP and young Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee became victorious in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections with 40.31% of the vote. While Abhijit Das secured 15.92% of the vote to finish third, Dr. Abul Hasnat of CPI (M) came in second, securing 34.66% of the ballots.

Later in 2019, the leader of the Trinamool Congress party was able to hold onto the Lok Sabha seat with 7,91,127 votes. Nilanjan Roy of the Bharatiya Janata Party received 4,70,533 votes. While Fuad Halim of the CPI (M) secured third place with 93,941 votes,.

Another prominent figure on the list by the BJP is from the royal lineage. The 13th descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhosale, is also fielded by the BJP.

Earlier in 2019, Chhatrapati Udayanraje Bhosale resigned from the NCP and joined the BJP before the Maharashtra assembly elections. Requiring a Lok Sabha byelection in Satara. And he lost his seat. The NCP’s Shriniwas Patil defeated Udayanraje Bhosale by 87,717 votes. Previously, the Lok Sabha seat witnessed the back-and-forth claimant between the BJP and NCP.

For 2024, Shashikant Shinde has a ticket for the NCP (SP).

Thakur Vishwadeep Singh of Firozabad and Shashank Mani Tripathi of Deoria are the final two contenders on the BJP’s 12th list. Uttar Pradesh is home to two seats.

Anita Som Prakash will run for the Hoshiarpur seat in Punjab instead of her husband, Union Minister Som Prakash.

The other two candidates, Parampal Kaur Sidhu from Bathinda and Manjeet Singh Manna Miawind from Khadoor Sahib, are both from Punjab.
