A chargesheet has been submitted in a Bijnor court, Uttar Pradesh, against 10 individuals accused of kidnapping Bollywood actor and comedian Mushtaq Khan.

According to the police, Lavi, Sarthak, Shashank, and Arjun have been identified as the prime accused. The chargesheet also reveals that the gang made at least 22 online transactions using Mushtaq Khan’s mobile phone. Additionally, jewelry bought through the victim’s phone was presented as evidence in court, and a total of 15 witnesses have been listed.

Bijnor City SHO Uday Pratap Singh confirmed that all 10 accused have been arrested and remain in judicial custody.

The gang’s modus operandi involved luring actors with fake event offers, providing advance payments and air tickets to gain their trust. Comedians Sunil Pal and Mushtaq Khan were among those targeted.

Investigations revealed that the gang, led by Lavi—known for his connections with several Mumbai actors—executed the plan with members like Sarthak Chaudhary, Sabiuddin alias Shabby, Ajeem, Shashank Kumar, and Arjun Karnwal. While some were arrested earlier, Arjun was nabbed separately by Meerut police.

On November 20, 2024, the group traveled to Delhi in rented vehicles, tricked Mushtaq Khan into attending a fake event, and brought him to a flat in Bijnor. The following day, ₹2.2 lakh was siphoned off from his bank accounts through transactions at shops and a cyber café.

The incident came to light after Khan’s event manager filed a police complaint. Further investigations revealed that the gang had also attempted to target actors like Shakti Kapoor and Rajesh Puri. Kapoor managed to avoid the trap by demanding a higher advance, while Puri was saved when he shared a selfie with the gang, alerting a contact.

Sunil Pal was similarly kidnapped by the gang, with his case being investigated by Meerut police. Authorities have recovered the vehicle used and deployed teams in Prayagraj, Delhi, and Uttarakhand to track down the remaining suspects.
