In a big political shakeup, Bihar is buzzing as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is thinking about teaming up with the BJP-led NDA. The Janata Dal (United) has a meeting planned for Sunday at 10 am, hinting at Nitish Kumar trying to form a new government. There’s talk of Nitish Kumar stepping down as CM on Saturday evening, and rumors are swirling about Congress MLAs thinking of switching sides to support Nitish Kumar.
At the same time, the BJP is getting ready for a move, gathering its MLAs at 9 am on Sunday. Word is that Nitish Kumar will get a letter of support from the BJP, and they’re planning a swearing-in ceremony on Sunday evening or Monday morning.
Numbers Game Unfolding:
As Nitish Kumar gets ready for this possible change, both the NDA and Mahagathbandhan are in a fierce fight to get MLAs on their side for the majority.
Here’s the current assembly scene: The RJD has a strong position with 79 MLAs, closely followed by the BJP with 76. Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) brings in 45, and Congress has 19 members. The Left Parties have 16, and smaller parties like HAM, AIMIM, and independents each have a few. There are also lone MLAs from parties like BSP and LJP. It’s like putting together a puzzle, and it’s making for a tense political situation.
JD(U)-BJP Alliance Looking Strong:
With the BJP (76), HAM (4), and LJP (1) already in, adding JD(U)’s 45 MLAs takes the NDA to 126, crossing the majority mark.
But Nitish Kumar is watching out for Lalu Yadav’s moves to split his MLAs, so he’s suggesting dissolving the assembly. Meanwhile, both JD(U) and BJP are trying to get MLAs from the RJD and Congress to boost their numbers.
As Bihar faces a potentially big political shift, the next few days promise an interesting story, with power on a knife-edge and the state’s politics going through a significant change.
