Wrestler-turned-politician Bajrang Punia recently complained to the Haryana Police after receiving a menacing message on WhatsApp. The message reportedly demanded that Punia leave the Congress party or be prepared to confront serious repercussions. News agency PTI disclosed that a police official confirmed the registration of the complaint and affirmed that the matter is currently under investigation.

The wrestler expressed his belief that he and Vinesh Phogat would have been celebrated as patriots if they had opted to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rather than the Congress. “We believe that if we had joined the BJP, we would have been regarded as patriots. However, since we chose to align with the Congress, we are being labelled as anti-nationals. We stand in solidarity with our leader Rahul Gandhi and his ongoing efforts and struggle,” said Punia.

Punia emphasized that their choice to join forces with the opposition ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in their home state of Haryana has resulted in them being labelled anti-nationals. Earlier, wrestler Ravi Punia had thrown down the gauntlet to the chief minister, daring him to stand for election in the Julana constituency if he truly thought defeating Vinesh Phogat would be a walk in the park.

“He is advocating for all sectors, including farmers, youth, and athletes,” Punia informed news agency ANI. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has assured that the issue will be thoroughly investigated, and decisive action will be taken against the accused.
