Indore: A VHP member stated that the Bajrang Dal might stage street protests against Diljit Dosanjh’s concert, opposing the provision of meat and liquor.
The Bajrang Dal staged protests on Saturday against Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s concert, set to take place on Sunday, December 8, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, as reported by ANI. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) member Yash Bachani stated that the Bajrang Dal might take to the streets to oppose the event, particularly objecting to the serving of meat and liquor.
“Bajrang Dal received information about a concert in the city where open liquor and meat would be served. We are here to inspect the situation and ensure the police administration has arranged for women’s safety. We are also vigilant against any incidents of Love Jihad. To preserve the city’s culture, we oppose open liquor and the serving of meat. Depending on the situation, Bajrang Dal may protest tomorrow. We will decide and inform accordingly,” Bachani told reporters.
On Saturday, Bajrang Dal members chanted slogans like “Jai Jai Shri Ram” and “Desh ka Bal, Bajrang Dal,” with one member remarking, “Today’s protest was just a trailer; tomorrow, we will show the full film.”
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 2, Amrendra Singh, assured that the Indore police are addressing the matter seriously, stating, “We take law and order, women’s security, and concerns about drug abuse seriously. No permission has been given for the open serving or consumption of alcohol. All aspects are under review.”
In a related incident, the state excise department had earlier revoked the permit for serving liquor at Diljit Dosanjh’s concert in Pune’s Kothrud area after strong objections were raised by the NCP’s youth wing, senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil, and local organizations.
