Zeeshan Siddique, son of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, joined the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Friday. He was expelled from the Congress in August over allegations of voting against the party in the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, a claim he denies.
“It is an emotional day for me and my family. I am grateful to Ajit Pawar, Praful Patel, and Sunil Tatkare for their trust during these challenging times. I’ve received the nomination from Bandra East, and with the support of the people, I’m confident of winning again,” Zeeshan said after joining the NCP.
The 32-year-old leader is the son of NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, who was fatally shot earlier this month.
