AR Rahman Praises R Madhavan’s ‘Rocketry’ Triumph at National Film Awards: ‘Preferred Over Oppenheimer’

Renowned music composer AR Rahman took to Twitter on Friday to extend his congratulations to R Madhavan for the remarkable achievement of his film, “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,” securing the prestigious Best Feature Film award at the 69th National Film Awards. Rahman’s tweet also unveiled his personal preference for Madhavan’s creation over the acclaimed “Oppenheimer.”
Sharing a throwback tweet, Rahman wrote, “Congrats Madhavan… Still, recall the Cannes impact of your movie… Time to confess (exquisite timing)… Personally liked yours more than #Oppenheimer.” The film “Oppenheimer” revolves around physicist J Robert Oppenheimer during World War II, portrayed by Cillian Murphy.
Rahman’s tweet featured an image of R Madhavan alongside Nambi Narayanan. The said tweet was a review of “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,” initially shared by Rahman after its screening at Cannes. The review lauded Madhavan with, “Just watched #Rocketrythenambieffect at Cannes… Applause to @ActorMadhavan for bestowing a fresh voice upon Indian cinema. #changeishere #respecttoIndianscientists.”
Just a day before the National Awards announcement, R Madhavan, who not only directed but also starred in the film, celebrated the occasion by sharing a heartfelt moment with his mother. He posted a snapshot of the TV screen displaying the news, capturing the joyful moment as he stood with his mother. In his post, he expressed gratitude to the jury members, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Minister Anurag Thakur for the auspicious journey that started at Cannes.
The film, centered around the life of Nambi Narayanan, a former ISRO scientist, also drew ecstatic remarks from the man himself. Narayanan, visibly elated by the recognition, exclaimed, “I am truly overjoyed and at a loss for words… As I witnessed the success of Chandrayaan yesterday, today’s news of the National Award declaration – the nation’s affirmation of my life’s tale… leaves me double-y elated.”
