Delhi Police reported the seizure of over 560 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana from Mahipalpur, with an estimated value of approximately ₹5,620 crore.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday accused the Congress of leading the youth toward drug abuse, following the Delhi Police’s seizure of drugs valued at ₹5,600 crore in the capital. Delhi Police arrested 40-year-old Tushar Goyal, alleged to be the mastermind behind the drug syndicate operating in India. According to a PTI report, investigators highlighted Goyal’s social media photos, where he allegedly appeared with Congress leaders. His purported Facebook profile featured a picture with a tiger, and his bio claimed he was the “chairman of Delhi Pradesh RTI Cell of DYPC, Indian Youth Congress.”

However, the Indian Youth Congress stated that Goyal was expelled from the organization on October 17, 2022, for engaging in anti-party activities. In a post on X, Shah called the developments “dangerous and shameful.” He said, “While the Modi government adopts a zero-tolerance approach to creating a ‘Drug-Free India,’ the involvement of a senior Congress figure in the ₹5,620 crore drug seizure from North India is both dangerous and disgraceful.” Shah further accused Congress of leading youth into the “dark world of drugs” and assured that the Modi government would not allow Congress leaders to use their political influence to draw the youth into drug abuse.

Everyone has witnessed the impact of drugs on youth in Punjab, Haryana, and across North India during Congress rule. While the Modi government is guiding the youth toward sports, education, and innovation, Congress seeks to push them into the darkness of drugs,” Shah added. He also emphasized that the Modi government is committed to dismantling the drug network across India, regardless of the political status or power of those involved, in its mission to create a ‘drug-free country.’
