Nawaz Modi, estranged wife of Raymond Chairman Gautam Singhania, has recently shed light on a tumultuous incident involving alleged physical assault, revealing the Ambani family’s intervention.
Modi claimed that on September 10, after Singhania’s birthday celebration in Mumbai, he assaulted her and their daughter, prompting them to seek police assistance. They sought refuge in a room, attempting to contact law enforcement for help.
In an interview, Modi disclosed the pivotal role played by Nita and Anant Ambani in aiding their distress. According to her account, Ananya Goenka, a friend, realized the police might not respond effectively. She relayed, “Me and Anant will go to the police station and come there.”
Modi revealed that Niharika, her daughter, contacted Vishwaroop, son of Trishakar Bajaj, Singhania’s first cousin. Vishwaroop was at the party and was urged by Niharika to return immediately. This led Niharika to instruct Vishwaroop to involve Trishakar Bajaj to mediate with Gautam.
Expressing gratitude for the Ambanis’ involvement, Modi asserted that Gautam had allegedly discouraged the involvement of law enforcement, claiming control over them. However, with the Ambanis’ intervention, the police overrode Singhania’s alleged attempts to prevent their arrival, ultimately addressing the situation.
Modi emphasized, “Gautam tried to stop the cops… but the Ambanis made sure they came.” She further highlighted that despite Singhania’s resistance to police involvement, the Ambanis ensured necessary legal documentation, turning the tide against his wishes.
The disclosure comes amidst Singhania’s announcement of separation from Nawaz Modi after 32 years of marriage. The split followed allegations by Modi that she was barred from attending her husband’s Diwali party. As part of the divorce settlement, she demanded a significant portion, 75%, of his estimated $1.4 billion net worth.
