Ahmedabad has Been Declared a “NO-DRONE” Zone Ahead of the India-Pakistan Match
According to a recent report in the Times of India, Ahmedabad’s Police Commissioner, GS Malik, has issued a notification declaring the city a “no-drone zone” for the India-Pakistan ICC World Cup Cricket Match at Narendra Modi Stadium on October 14, 2023. This decision is due to the high-profile nature of the match.
The notification explicitly prohibits the operation of various aerial devices, including drones, quadcopters, powered aircraft, microlight aircraft, hang gliders, paragliders, paramotors, hot air balloons, and parachuting on the specified date. Notably, this ban does not apply to the police, security agencies, the Gujarat Cricket Association, and the Board of Control of Cricket in India.
In a separate development reported by PTI, the Crime Branch of Ahmedabad Police has apprehended four individuals on charges of producing and distributing counterfeit tickets for the upcoming India-Pakistan match. It is alleged that these individuals purchased an original ticket for the match and then replicated approximately 200 duplicate tickets using Photoshop. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Chaitanya Mandlik, all 200 counterfeit tickets, including the 50 that were sold via social media connections, have been recovered.
The accused were reportedly selling these counterfeit tickets to fans at prices ranging from ₹2,000 to ₹20,000 per ticket. The police have filed a case against the four individuals, charging them with criminal conspiracy, cheating, breach of trust, forgery, and other related offenses.
