A man from Agra, Mohd Arshad, is accused of murdering his four sisters and mother in Lucknow after sedating them, throttling them, and slashing their wrists. The tragic incident occurred earlier this week, and the victims were discovered on Wednesday morning in a hotel room in the bustling Naka area of the city. The 24-year-old brother, Arshad, is a prime suspect in the case, and police reported he confessed to the crime, allegedly carried out with his father’s assistance.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Raveena Tyagi, Arshad claimed that harassment from neighbours drove him to commit the murders. The family, originally from Kuberpur, Agra, arrived in Lucknow on December 30, where Arshad booked a room at Hotel Sharanjeet in Naka for two days. Tyagi explained that Arshad expressed concerns about his family’s future if anything were to happen to him, which led him to make the drastic decision to kill them.
The deceased have been identified as Arshad’s sisters—Alia (9), Alshia (19), Aksa (16), Rahmeen (18)—and his mother, Asma. Since there were no signs of a struggle, police suspect the victims were sedated before the attack.
