Two sisters, Charvi Jain (23) and Bhavya Jain (21), were arrested on Saturday night following a series of chaotic events in East Delhi’s Vasundhara Enclave. Weeks earlier, the sisters allegedly assaulted a 58-year-old security guard, Akhilesh Kumar Dubey, at their residence in Anekant Apartment. Reports state they locked Dubey in their home, burned him with a hot iron, and beat him with a badminton racquet after he was called to resolve a water supply issue.
Following this incident, the Jain sisters reportedly locked themselves in their house for over a week, refusing to cooperate with the police investigation. Authorities subsequently sought a non-bailable warrant on October 1, which is still under court consideration.
The latest disturbance began on Friday night when the sisters allegedly honked incessantly, disturbing residents, including retired Uttar Pradesh DSP Ashok Kumar Sharma, a cancer patient. Sharma, who had been resting, asked the women to stop, only to be met with verbal abuse and small diyas thrown at him from their balcony. When Sharma called for the security guard, the guard reportedly feared intervening due to the sisters’ prior assault on a guard in September. The conflict eventually subsided, but tensions rose again the following evening.
On Saturday, the sisters allegedly assaulted Sharma’s wife and two daughters outside their residence, with reports of biting and slapping during the confrontation. When Sharma’s wife tried to intervene, she was also reportedly assaulted. Reena Sharma, one of Sharma’s daughters, filed the second FIR against the sisters.
Witnesses claimed that other residents gathered near the sisters’ house, where the women allegedly hurled abuses at everyone. Police were called, but the sisters reportedly directed their abuse at the officers as well. Around 7:30 p.m., they attempted to flee by car, colliding with multiple vehicles and damaging property within the apartment complex. According to a third FIR filed by a head constable, they attempted to run over police officers during their escape.
As they left the complex, the sisters allegedly struck a scooter belonging to Joginder, who was near a tea stall. Joginder claimed the sisters cursed him and attempted to run him over. His scooter became lodged under their car and was dragged for approximately 1.5 kilometers. His complaint led to the fourth FIR.
The police, joined by Noida officers, pursued the sisters and eventually intercepted them. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Apoorva Gupta, the sisters, both unemployed, have parents who live in Paharganj. Their father, Neeraj Jain, operates a printing press, while their mother is a homemaker. It remains unclear whether the sisters owned or rented the Vasundhara residence.
