In a landmark declaration at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, Gautam Adani, the billionaire chairman of the Adani Group, has revealed plans for an unprecedented investment of Rs 2 lakh crore in Gujarat over the next five years. This strategic initiative is poised to generate an impressive 1,00,000 direct and indirect job opportunities within the state.
Adani, addressing the audience, stated emphatically, “Over the next five years, the Adani Group will inject over Rs 2 Lakh Crores into Gujarat.” He provided a detailed overview of the conglomerate’s current investments in the western state, underscoring their commitment to surpassing promises made in previous summits.
“At the preceding summit, I committed to an investment of over Rs 55,000 crore by 2025. We have not only met but exceeded this target, with investments exceeding Rs 50,000 crore across various sectors, resulting in the creation of more than 25,000 direct and indirect jobs,” he declared.
Adani highlighted the group’s unwavering commitment to green supply chains, citing investments in solar panels, green ammonia, hydrogen electrolysers, and wind turbines as part of their contribution to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. “We are expanding the green supply chain for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and creating the largest integrated, renewable energy ecosystem,” he explained.
A noteworthy revelation was the Adani Group’s initiation of the construction of the world’s largest green energy plant in Gujarat’s Kachchh district. Covering an expansive 725 sq. km, the plant is projected to boast an impressive 30 GW capacity for renewable energy.
Commending the success of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, Adani attributed the achievement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership, blending grand ambition, massive scale, and meticulous governance. He praised India’s economic accomplishments under Modi’s guidance, citing a remarkable 185% growth in GDP and a 165% increase in per capita income since 2014.
Adani also applauded Prime Minister Modi for India’s impactful addition of the Global South to the G20 group of nations during its presidency. “Your leadership at the G20 platform set a benchmark for a more inclusive world order. Adding the Global South to the G20 is a defining moment in modern history,” he expressed.
The tenth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, themed “Gateway to Future,” is currently underway in Gujarat until January 12. This global forum aims to foster business collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships for inclusive growth and sustainable development. The Adani Group’s monumental investment signifies a significant stride toward Gujarat’s economic prosperity and sustainable development.
