Abu Dhabi has been selected as the host city for the 64th Annual Conference of the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations (IFATCA), scheduled to take place from April 28 to May 2, 2025. The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), has signed a cooperation agreement with the Emirates Aviation Association to organise this event in collaboration with the General Civil Aviation Authority and the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi.

This agreement aims to bolster strategic collaboration between participating organisations while respecting the unique mandates of each entity. The conference will unite global aviation authorities, civil aviation companies, and industry experts to discuss advancements in air traffic control (ATC) systems, enhance safety protocols, and promote efficiency in global air navigation.

Saif Sultan Al Nasri, Acting Undersecretary of the DMT, highlighted the importance of the event, stating:
“This collaboration is a key milestone in our efforts to enhance the UAE’s position as a global leader in civil aviation. By hosting the IFATCA 2025 conference, we are not only advancing air traffic management but also fostering stronger relationships among international aviation experts, ensuring the continued development and safety of global air navigation systems.”

The conference will feature specialised panel discussions, workshops, and presentations by leading international experts, offering a platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and the exchange of best practices in ATC operations. Additionally, Emirati controllers will gain opportunities to participate in discussions and decision-making on regional and international air traffic management.

With over 130 member associations and a network of more than 50,000 professional air traffic controllers worldwide, IFATCA is a cornerstone organisation in the aviation industry. Its annual conference is regarded as a premier event for addressing pressing issues and innovations in air traffic management.

The UAE’s selection as the host country underscores its significant achievements in aviation and transport infrastructure. Boasting one of the busiest and most lucrative airspaces globally, the UAE has seen a 10% growth in its aviation sector over the past two years, reinforcing its role as a leader in civil aviation.

The IFATCA 2025 conference will further solidify Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a hub for international events and a key player in shaping the future of global air navigation systems.
